Last night, I had a wonderfully pleasant time wandering around the old town of Santiago de Compostela.
Seeking the fullest tapas bar (because that’s how ya know it’s goood!), I squeezed myself into a corner table at Bar La Tita and ordered a beer specific to this region of Spain called Estrella Galicia and was promptly brought an accompaniment of the **best Spanish tortilla** I’ve ever had (a delectably messy mash-up of cheese, egg, and potato).
Of course, I was craving pulpo (grilled octopus in oil), so I ordered a mini plate of that, too.
After paying and continuing to wander, I followed the sound of some pretty loud music – and to my delight, there was a huge concert going on in the main square under the famous cathedral. It was a four woman band and there were bagpipes, trumpets, and drums. It was so perfect!
I only stayed for three and a half songs before making my way back down through the old town.
It wouldn’t be the perfect night, though, without the most delicious scoop of banana ice cream on my lovely walk home! Oh, Spain. You have my heart.
…especially as thoughts drift in and out of possibly living here one day (if I can teach English in France, I suppose I can do it anywhere!) Hmmm….
