We’ve all been there.
Starting off a new year at your same old job (or maybe not so old, but simply your mundane day job of just a few short months) and realizing to yourself – wow. This is it. I’m in it for the long haul. No end in sight. Here I am. Day after day after long day…
Did you know that there’s a way to start offsetting those sad and depressing thoughts? Plan a vacation!! Something to remember, though, is that you don’t necessarily have to plan something extravagant to some faraway destination that would most likely break the bank.
No. Not at all.
Plan something simple with a dear friend of yours! Maybe a trip a couple states away. Maybe a little road trip. Plan to reconnect with your best friend from college by doing something awesome and amazing that you’ve both been talking about for ages. Go to Iceland!
Okay, maybe those last two suggestions were for me, personally, but I am just SO excited because that’s exactly what my friend and I are doing. We just got off the phone last night and had come to the realization that we need something – anything – to look forward to or else we were going to get stuck in the savage black hole that is working life, viewing it as a constant and never-ending routine.
Alas! We decided to make our forever-talked-about plans a reality! And even today, my work day (a double shift at both of my jobs) seemed to pass in a happy flash because I was so amped on the idea of earning my money in order to put a bunch of it toward our big adventure!
So, add planning a huge (or small) getaway to your ever-growing to-do list. You know you have places in your head that you’ve always wanted to explore. Well, you know as well as I do that the time is NOW to do all those things. Not tomorrow, not in five years. You’ll be old and grumpy.
Do it now when you’re young and free!
